How to Download Instagram Stories
Instagram Stories vanish after 24 hours — unless you save them first. DLGram lets you download any public story (photo or video) for free, with no registration and no watermarks. Works on iPhone, Android and desktop.
Why Download Instagram Stories?
Stories are temporary by design — they disappear after 24 hours. Downloading a story before it expires lets you keep content you want to reference, share or archive. Common reasons to save stories include:
- Saving your own story before it expires (if you don't have archiving enabled)
- Keeping a screenshot-quality record of a post from a brand or creator
- Archiving stories for social media management purposes
- Saving tutorial or how-to stories for offline viewing
Step 1 — Copy the Story Link
Open Instagram and navigate to the profile whose story you want to save. Tap to open the story, then:
On the Instagram app:
Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) at the bottom right of the story → tap "Copy link".
On Instagram.com (desktop):
Click the story to open it, then copy the URL from your browser's address bar. The URL should start with instagram.com/stories/.
Note: You must act while the story is still active — within 24 hours of posting. Stories cannot be downloaded after they expire.
Step 2 — Paste into DLGram
Go to dlgram.org and paste the story link into the input field. DLGram automatically detects whether it is a photo story or video story and prepares the download.
Step 3 — Download the Story
Click Download. Story photos are saved as JPG and story videos as MP4 directly to your device.
Downloading Story Highlights
Unlike regular stories, story highlights do not expire — they stay on a profile permanently. Highlights are also public on public accounts. You can download highlight stories the same way: copy the highlight story link, paste into DLGram, and download.
Story highlights are accessible via the profile page. Tap the highlight cover → tap a story → copy its link → paste into DLGram.
Downloading Stories on iPhone
- Copy the story link from the Instagram app
- Open Safari and go to dlgram.org
- Paste the link and tap Download
- Photos save to the Files app (as JPG); videos save as MP4
To save a story photo to your camera roll: Files → Downloads → tap and hold the JPG → "Save Image".
Downloading Stories on Android
- Copy the story link from Instagram
- Open Chrome and go to dlgram.org
- Paste the link and tap Download
- Files save to your Downloads folder
Troubleshooting
The story link does not work
Story links only work while the story is still active. If the 24-hour window has passed, the link will not load. For highlights, the link should always work.
The story is from a private account
DLGram only supports public content. Stories from private accounts cannot be accessed without following the account on Instagram.
The video story has no audio
Try downloading in a different browser. VLC Media Player usually handles all MP4 audio correctly.
