Reels are the format people most often want to keep and the one Instagram makes hardest to keep: the save ribbon in the app only bookmarks the clip, it never puts a file on your phone. This page takes a Reel link and returns the video file itself.

How to use it

  1. Copy the Reel link. In the app, tap the paper-plane or ⋯ button on the Reel and choose Copy link.
  2. Paste it above. Paste into the field on this page. The Reel appears as a playable preview within a couple of seconds.
  3. Pick a quality and save. Press Download for the best version, or Choose quality to pick a smaller file.

Several resolutions, each with its file size

Instagram encodes most Reels more than once — typically 1080p, 720p, 480p, 360p and 240p. When more than one rendition exists, a Choose quality button appears under the preview and every option lists its exact size in megabytes before you commit to it. On mobile data that matters: the lower renditions are often a fraction of the size of the top one.

If the button does not appear, Instagram only holds one version of that clip and the main Download button already gives you the best one. Nothing is upscaled and nothing is re-encoded on our side, so the file is bit-for-bit what Instagram serves.

More than the video

A moment after the download button, the result card fills in what Instagram makes public for that Reel: the creator with avatar and verified badge, likes, comments and views, how long ago it was posted, the full caption and the name of the soundtrack. That is handy when you are saving a Reel as a reference and want to remember who made it and what song it used.

What works and what does not

  • Works: Reels from public accounts, Reels shared from the Explore feed, Reels inside a carousel post.
  • Works: links from the app (instagram.com/reel/…) and from a desktop browser — tracking parameters are ignored.
  • Does not work: Reels from private accounts, and Reels that were deleted or archived by the creator.
  • The MP4 keeps the original soundtrack exactly as it plays in the app.

Using saved Reels in an edit

Downloaded Reels are vertical 9:16 video, usually 1080×1920 for recent uploads. That drops straight into CapCut, InShot, Premiere Rush or any vertical timeline without letterboxing. For a horizontal edit, place the clip on a blurred copy of itself rather than stretching it.

Keep the creator’s handle with the file name or in your notes. The result card shows it, together with the soundtrack title — the two things you will need if you ever ask for permission to repost or credit the original.

Frequently asked questions

Are downloaded Reels watermarked?

No. Instagram does not burn a watermark into Reels it serves, and DLGram does not add one. You get the same file the Instagram app plays.

Can I download a Reel in 1080p?

Yes, when the creator uploaded it at that size. Choose quality lists every rendition Instagram holds; 1080p is the largest that exists for Reels.

Does the creator know I saved their Reel?

No. DLGram does not log in to Instagram and does not interact with the account, so no notification is sent.

Can I reuse a downloaded Reel on my own account?

Saving for personal viewing is fine. Reposting someone else’s Reel needs the creator’s permission, and the soundtrack may be licensed separately.
