What Is an Instagram Carousel?
An Instagram carousel is a single post that contains several photos or videos which you swipe through one by one. Instagram allows up to 20 items in one carousel. DLGram opens the whole post at once, shows every item as a separate tile, and lets you save them all together or pick out only the ones you want.
How to Recognise a Multi-Item Post Before You Copy the Link
Carousels look almost identical to ordinary single posts in the feed, so it is easy to copy a link and then wonder why you only expected one photo. There are two reliable signs.
The first is the small stacked-squares icon in the top right corner of the image. Instagram only draws it on posts that contain more than one item — a single photo never shows it. The second is the row of small dots under the image. One dot per item, with the current one highlighted, so you can count the slides before you even swipe.
The link itself gives nothing away. A carousel uses exactly the same instagram.com/p/ address as a single photo, and the address does not change while you swipe from slide one to slide five. That is a good thing: it means you can copy the link from any slide and still get the complete post. You do not need to swipe back to the first item first.
Step 1 — Copy the Carousel Post Link
Open Instagram and find the carousel post. Tap the three-dot menu (⋯) at the top and select "Copy link". The link will be copied to your clipboard.
Step 2 — Paste into DLGram
Visit dlgram.org and paste the link, or press the Paste button to take it straight from the clipboard. DLGram automatically detects that the post has more than one item and lays every photo and video out in a grid, so you can see the whole post on one screen instead of swiping.
Step 3 — Download All Items, or Just the Ones You Want
Under the grid there is a Download all button. Press it once and every item in the post is saved in turn, in the order they appear. This is the fastest route when you want a complete copy of a post — a recipe explained across ten slides, a full set of event photos, a product gallery.
If you only want two slides out of fifteen, ignore that button. Every tile in the grid has its own Download button underneath, so you can save a single slide without touching the rest. This is the more common case in practice: most people want one particular chart, one particular outfit photo, or one particular clip.
Mixed Posts: Photos and Videos in the Same Carousel
Instagram lets creators mix formats freely inside one post, and DLGram handles the mixture without you having to do anything. Each tile is treated according to what it actually is.
Video tiles give you a download button with the file size printed on it, plus a quality selector listing the resolutions Instagram stores — 1080P, 720P, 480P, 360P and 240P, each with its own size so you can weigh quality against data. Videos come down as MP4 with H.264 video, exactly as Instagram stores them, with no re-encoding step in between.
Photo tiles instead offer a choose size control listing the available copies, for example 1440×1440 at 553 KB, 1080×1080 at 176 KB, 750×750 at 114 KB and 640×640 at 74 KB. Instagram frequently serves images in WebP rather than JPEG, so there is also a save as JPG button that converts the file server-side before it reaches you. Use it if the picture is going somewhere that dislikes WebP — an older photo editor, a document template, or a printing service.
Why Only the First File Downloaded
This is the single most common issue with multi-item posts, and it is not a fault in the post or in DLGram. Browsers treat a page that saves several files in quick succession as something to check with you first, because that behaviour was historically abused. So the first file lands normally and the rest are quietly held back.
In Chrome the block is announced by a small icon and a prompt next to the address bar, asking whether the site may download multiple files. Choose Allow, then press Download all again and the remaining items save one after another. On desktop the prompt can be easy to miss because it appears at the top of the window rather than over the page — if a carousel stops after one file, that corner of the browser is the first place to look.
If you would rather not grant the permission at all, the individual download buttons are unaffected. Each one is a normal single-file download, so tapping through the tiles you want always works, whatever the browser has decided about batch saving.
File Names and Keeping the Original Order
Files arrive in the order the slides appear in the post, so slide one lands first and the last slide lands last. Once they are in your download folder, however, the sort order you see depends on your file manager rather than on the download. Folders sorted alphabetically by name can scatter a ten-slide set apparently at random.
The fix is to sort the folder by date added or date modified instead of by name; the sequence then matches the post exactly. If you plan to keep the set long-term, it is worth renaming the files immediately after downloading with a numeric prefix such as 01, 02, 03. Numbering with a leading zero keeps them sorted correctly even after they move to another device or cloud folder.
