DLGram vs SaveFrom — Many Networks, or One Done Deeply?

SaveFrom.net is positioned publicly as a general-purpose saver: paste a link from any of a long list of networks and get a file back. DLGram accepts Instagram links and nothing else. This page is about that trade-off; since we have not benchmarked SaveFrom, nothing here is a measurement of it.
The arithmetic of covering everything
Every network a downloader supports is a separately moving target. A tool speaking to fifteen of them inherits fifteen independent sources of breakage, and each repair shares one engineering queue. A tool speaking to one has nothing to prioritise against. That is arithmetic, not an accusation — a large team may absorb it comfortably, and as of 2026 we have no visibility into how SaveFrom schedules its own work.
What the spare attention buys
Narrow scope turns into format handling. A carousel here is not merely its first slide: it is a grid of up to 20 items with a download-all button, and your browser will ask permission before saving several files in a row. Typing @username opens account mode — a profile card with HD avatar, display name, follower count and verified badge, plus any live stories, and it loads for accounts running none. Every button prints the file size, videos and photos each get their own ladder of sizes, and a save as JPG button converts the WebP files Instagram often serves. Nothing is re-encoded, and past roughly 40 MB your browser's own download manager takes over, so there is no size ceiling.

The third column says "varies" deliberately: filling untested rows with confident crosses would be inventing evidence.
When the broad tool is the better pick
If your week holds a lecture video, a clip from one network and a single Reel, one general-purpose service is genuinely less to keep track of, and remembering where each specialist lives costs more than the extra polish returns. It is also the only option for anything we do not cover: DLGram does nothing with a non-Instagram link. Depth starts paying only once Instagram is most of what you save.
Our limits, and what happens to your link
Stories are gone 24 hours after posting and cannot be recovered. Private accounts are never supported. Downloading does not place you in a story's viewers list. One-click Highlight albums and MP3-only audio are not available yet.
There is no account or login, and Instagram credentials are never requested. A pasted link is used to fetch the media and is not tied to any profile; the media is not stored on our servers, since your browser pulls it from Instagram's CDN. Language, theme and your five most recent downloads live in your browser's local storage. Should I use a multi-network downloader for Instagram?
If you save from several networks in a normal week, one general tool is one address to remember instead of five. If nearly everything you save is an Instagram post, depth matters more than breadth.
How do I test whether a downloader handles Instagram carousels?
Paste the link of one public post that has several slides. A carousel-aware result lists every slide for you to pick; a partial one returns only the first. That test on your own posts beats any comparison page, this one included.
Why does DLGram print a file size on the download button?
So you can decide before spending the data. Videos list 1080P, 720P, 480P, 360P and 240P with a size on each rung; photos offer sizes such as 1440×1440 (553 KB), 1080×1080 (176 KB), 750×750 (114 KB) and 640×640 (74 KB).
My Instagram photo downloaded as a .webp file. What now?
Instagram often serves WebP, which some editors and gallery apps refuse to open. A save as JPG button converts it on our side and hands you an ordinary .jpg. Videos are never re-encoded and stay as the original MP4/H.264.
Can DLGram grab a whole Highlight collection in one click?
Not currently. There is no one-click download for an entire Highlight album, though individual items still work by their own links. Audio-only MP3 extraction is not offered yet either.
Is DLGram free, and is there an account?
It is free, and there is no account, registration or login. Instagram credentials are never requested. Roughly twenty requests a minute triggers a short cooldown, which is the only usage limit.
